ONGOING PROJECTS/ASSIGNMENTS

1. With funding support from USAID Market Systems Resilience Activity (MSR), EBNA Royal Consult is implementing a grant activity titled “enhancing environmental safety through regulation and safe use of agrochemicals, disposal and recycling of used containers” from May 13, 2024 to May 12, 2025.

Achievements

  • Baseline needs assessment of gaps in the agrochemical sector in five (5) districts namely; Yendi, Nanton, Gushegu, East Mamprusi and Mamprugu Moagduri conducted and report compiled to guide implementation of the grant activity
  • Developed training manual and curriculum on safe use of agrochemicals and disposal of agrochemical containers for use in training input dealers and farmers
  • Built the capacity of 156 input dealers and farmers at Mion, Yendi, Gushegu, Nanton, East Mamprusi and Mamprugu Moagduri districts on safe use of agrochemicals and disposal of agrochemical containers.
  • Facilitating the establishment of centralized Points of Collection (POCs) in fourteen (14) communities of seven districts (7) to serve as points for disposal of used agrochemical containers for off-taking and recycling into other usable products.

2. With funding support from USAID Mobilizing Finance in Agriculture (MFA), EBNA Royal Consult facilitated the set-up of ten (10) Farmers Input Supply Hubs (FISH) using vibrant Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLAs) to increase smallholder farmers access to agriculture input (chemicals and fertilizer) and increase farm yields and household incomes in ten (10) communities of the Wa East, Nadowli/Kaleo, Sissala East, Sissala West and Daffiama Busia Issa Districts of the Upper West Region of Ghana.

Achievements Successfully negotiated with five (5) large-scale input dealers (fertilizer and chemicals) to supply 1,217 bags of assorted fertilizer (valued at GHC452410) and 411 litres of assorted chemicals (valued at GHc22,534) to about 499 smallholder farmers using the 10 community input shops as the vehicle to enhance farmers access to these critical inputs at the community level.

  • All the ten VSLA Input Service Hubs made a total margin of GH¢8,133 with no reported case of default to input suppliers.

3. With funding support from USAID fund Ghana Trade and Investment (GTI) Activity, EBNA Royal Consult is implementing a grant activity dubbed “Market-Driven Cashew Apple Processing” (MD-CAP) in the West Gonja District of the Savannah Region of Ghana. Thirty (30) cashew apple (fruit) women processers are being supported with technical training and support in cashew apple value addition (i.e. juice, jam and khebab), business management training, good hygiene and provision of simple processing equipment and logistics to up-scale their cashew apple processing businesses.

Achievement

  • Twenty-nine (29) beneficiaries gained additional knowledge and experience in cashew apple value addition with focus on juice, jam and ‘khebab’
  • Twenty-nine (29) beneficiaries gained additional knowledge and experience in personal hygiene and quality standard practices during processing
  • Three central cashew apple processing centres put in place at Canteen, Larabanga and Busunu
  • Project beneficiaries supported with five (5) locally fabricated hydraulic press cashew apple juice extractors, PPEs (i.e. wellington boots, hand gloves, nose masks, overall), juice bottles, preservatives and packaging boxes
  • Beneficiaries being supported to obtain business certificates, FDA registration and labels for their processed cashew apple products.
